PENNY FEST

Local Music. Shared Stages. Connected Community.

Penny Fest is a grassroots, intergenerational music festival grown from the community around Penny Lane’s Music Workshop.

Bringing together students, teachers, parents, neighbours, friends and musicians from across Fremantle, Penny Fest creates opportunities for people at different stages of their musical lives to perform, connect, collaborate and share what they know.

PENNY FEST 2026

Our 2026 Penny Fest brought together 22 bands and more than 50 performers, including primary and high school students, TAFE and university musicians, teachers, musician parents performing with their children, emerging artists and established local musicians.

Around 150 people came together for the festival — students, teachers, parents, neighbours and friends — creating a day that celebrated the music being made across generations and the community that grows around it.

Artists included Reuben De Melo, Michael Videlli, Big Boss Man, Ryan Dalton and Penny Lane, alongside an incredible line-up of emerging and established performers.

SHARING MUSIC ACROSS GENERATIONS

Penny Fest is about more than putting musicians on a stage.

Through performance, collaboration, conversation and mentoring, musicians at different stages of their lives have opportunities to learn from and encourage one another.

Younger musicians can hear from teenagers who have begun gigging, teens can connect with young adult and emerging musicians, and established artists can share the experiences they have gathered along the way.

Each generation has something to learn and something to pass on.

PENNY FEST 2027

Penny Fest returns in April 2027, growing from what our community has already helped create and bringing even more musicians and generations together to make, perform and share music.

More details coming soon.
